Join us for a creative two-day workshop where you'll learn to make a stylish straw fascinator using a premium parasisal straw hood. The hoods are hand-woven from sisal straw in a traditional "Pari" weave, known for its elegant herringbone texture.
The first day students will be blocking their straw hat bodies over one of our vintage or modern wood hat blocks. Techniques taught will include pre-stiffening straw prior to blocking, shaping straw over the block, and adding wire to the brim edges.
The second day, we will be finishing the brim edges and sewing in a sweatband. The final touch will be using the straw cut offs to create a decorative trim. Students can bring in additional trim if they wish.
This is a hands-on, small group class—perfect for those interested in millinery, costume design, or simply exploring a new creative skill.
Class will meet Tuesday, July 15th from 10:00-4:00 and Wednesday, July 16th, from 10:00-4:00. One hour lunch break each day. Hand sewing skills recommended but not required.
Students need to purchase their own hat body for the class, additional information on ordering will be provided upon registration.
