Jinsin Straw Hat Workshop

In this two-day workshop, students will learn to create two different sizes of hat bases using jinsin buntal straw. Jinsin is material that is created using buntal straw and weaving it with a synthetic fiber. The buntal straw is the weft fiber while a polyester thread forms the warp.

In addition to creating a base for a hat students will learn to manipulate the jinsin to create a swirl trim.  Additional trim options will be available for students. Students also have the option to provide their own trim.

This class is appropriate for first time students and continuing students who would like to further their millinery skills. Hand sewing skills recommended but not required. Students need to purchase their own jinsin for the class, additional information on ordering will be provided upon registration. 

Workshop will be Saturday, March 1st from 10:00 to 5:00pm and Sunday, March 2nd from 10:00 to 4:00pm.

There will be a one hour lunch break on both Saturday and Sunday.
